My Diaries in Greece
This post is dedicated to Pepsi-Guy.
Back to blogger's world after a short vacation. It feels good.
Well, I was on vacation in Greece (after my buisness trip to Australia had been cancelled for like 1000 reasons :-( )
So here comes a little diary of my days in Greece:
Aug. 5th Arrival to Athens, Greece.
Aug. 5th - 7th Plaza Resort Hotel- Anavyssos Beach in Sounio Ave. Quiet nice hotel but far from the down town, which is good for relaxation. Swimming and tanning was all i've done.
Aug. 7th Ferry to Mykonos Island.
Aug. 7th - 12th Mykonos Island.
Crazy... splendor... romantic... awsome... with beautiful half-naked guys (and girls). Full of life night and day.
I stayed in a hotel called Anastasia Village, which was like small challets on a sandy beach of Kalafatis. (I hope I got the name right). They had morning exercises inside the sea everymorning, followed by some other beach activities which include beach volley-ball, rowing, sail boats, in addition to some groups water games. Of course I was too lazy to participate in any of these (except rowing for 30 minutes - one day only). I preferred regular swimming and sun-tanning in their nice weather. Oh, and as a Kuwaiti, couldn't resist staring at the firm figures I'm surrounded with, wondering if I'll ever have a nice figure?!!! (in my dreams). They also had afternoon exercises on the outdoor swimming pool that overlooked the beach.
My accomodation was a room in one of those white and blue challets with a small sea view balcony, which I loved.
Amazing island... white houses with blue or red doors and window frames... I hired a motorbike to cruise around through the island, and visit other beaches there. One of wich was Paradise Beach... great activities as well... and some HOT italian guys... not to mention the very good DJ and the delicious food. It has an everynight party and crazy stuff (I'll leave details here to your own imagination). One of these was the Full Moon Party Night.
Well, if you're not a party-type person, you can go to the town. Shopping in the narrow streets with tiny cafeterias and restaurants and watching (or buying) some handcrafts, looking for souvenirs is also an enjoyment.I tried different restaurants with different cuizines there but I LOVED the Greek cuizine. It's sooo tasty.
Aug. 12th Ferry to Port of Piraeus, Athens. Center Athens this time.
Hotel: Athens Imperial.
Aug. 13th Morning: A visit to Acropoli to see the Acropolis - Great civilization... How could they build such things? with no sources of technology back then?! Always surprises me, whenever I go and see these temples, open theatres, sanctuaries and so. Thinking of God's capability of creating such people, i had my lunch at God's Restaurant. (The weather is tooo hot). Then I did some shopping in Plaka, the old town shops of antiques, T-shirts and handcrafts.
Afternoon: Athens By Night Tour. We visited some famous buildings and monuments and saw some towns... had a snack in a small cafe in the Port of Piraeus. It served some sea food, so the place was full of cats I could hardly leave my feet on the ground. (Yes, I do get scared of cats, so what?). At the end of the tour we had dinner in one of the Folklore Dancing restaurants. Do I need to say that I fell in love with the main dancer? the lead? Oh, I LOVED him.
Aug. 14th Full Day Tour To Delphi.
Delphi, North of Athens. 23 years ago, I went to that place in the mountains, but I couldn't remember anything but their special honey which they made and sell. I remember mom buying some and taking back with us to Kuwait. It was the best honey I ever tasted. Unfortunately, this honey factory does not exist anymore, but you know what? people don't come up here on this mountan to buy honey, they come to visit the Temple of Apollo. What's wrong with me? Anyway, monuments, historical sites, Apollo's Temple, open theatre, the view of the valley all looked wonderful although climbing to the top of the mountain was a pain in the ass in this hot weather.
Back to the hotel at 7:30 pm. It was too late for shopping and too early for bed, so what would you do? Go have a meal of course, even if you don't feel hungry. Someone who stays in the same hotel and went to the same tour suggested dinner at a cafe on the beach and so we it happened. The music and the food were undescribable.
Aug. 15th Day of Departure.
My flight was in the evening (6:00 pm). I was gonna go shopping (you know last day shopping is a must for us girls), but unfortunately, it was a bank's holiday, so all the shopping centers were closed. The only ones that were open were the ones in Plaka, the old town, so I thought: "why not?, it's shopping, after all".
At 4:00 pm I left to the Airport heading back to Kuwait via Dubai. Emirates Airlines are the best, no doubt. Oh, and since I work in a planetarium, what I most like about the plane (apart from the excellent service they have) is that they have lighting stars on the ceiling just as those you see in a planetarium, so that when the lights go off, you see a sky-like ceiling.
Aug. 16th 3:00 am Landed in Kuwait.
The best part about having a vacation though, is that when you come back to Bloggers'Land(even if you had your laptop with you, but since there was no time to be wasted on laptops) you get to read 3 posts with their comments of Shurouq's.
Sis, I love you.
PS. Did I mention that I had my first Diving experience in Mykonos Island? A hell of an experience. Can't wait till I do it again.
